Lauderdale County School District prepares for teacher recruitment fair

The Lauderdale County School District is on the hunt for outstanding teachers by hosting a teacher recruitment fair starting next week.

“They’re so many reasons why you should choose The Lauderdale County School District, we are just an outstanding place to work, and it’s mainly because of the people that work here and our students that we serve. This is a wonderful community, we’re a safe community. We have safe schools, we have top-notch teachers and administrators, and we all have the same goal, and that’s to educate our students.”

This invitation is extended to current teachers and those who also may have a curiosity about the education profession.

“We’re just inviting anyone that has a current teaching license or maybe in school to become a teacher; they can come and visit with us and see what the Lauderdale County School District has to offer.”

Davis says this fair not only recruits, but also prevents them from falling in the state-wide teacher shortage pool.

“There is a teacher shortage in the State of Mississippi right now, now there’s not a teacher shortage in the Lauderdale County School district, but we want to be proactive in this. We don’t want to find ourselves in this situation where we have job vacancies, and there’s no one to fill them.”

According to Davis, there will be county school representation from all over The Lauderdale County School District.

“We’re going to set up the office; all 12 of our schools will be represented, we’ll have an elementary area, a middle school area, a high school area. So, if you’re interested in any of those grade levels, please bring your resume, and you can speak to one of our principals from those schools.”
