The Lauderdale County Circuit Clerk’s office is warning about a potential scammer phone call. There have been recent reports of scam artists contacting residents in the area demanding money for missed jury duty.
Scammers are demanding wired transactions resulting in the amount of $1,500.
“Not ever, ever showing up for jury duty is there going to be a money fine that’s demanded by anybody telling you to go to the Dollar General, Walgreens, Walmart, CVS anywhere to wire money never ever ever, that’s your flag, and it is a scam,” said Donna Jill circuit clerk for Lauderdale County.
You are encouraged to contact your local law enforcement if you receive a suspicious phone call demanding money.
