Over the weekend, The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department received a call about several shots being fired at a residence.
"Saturday morning at approximately seven-twenty AM, The Sheriff’s Department was notified of a shooting that occurred at the 42 block of Homestead Rd: Deputies responded when they arrived; they discovered a female there that had been shot multiple times.” Said Lauderdale County Sheriff Chief Deputy, Ward Calhoun.
It resulted in 40 year-old Gracie Moss Lebron being rushed to a local hospital.
“Metro ambulance transported the victim to a local emergency room she died at the emergency room as results of injuries from being shot.” Said Lauderdale County Sheriff Chief Deputy, Ward Calhoun.
The shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute between 36-year-old James Gregory Freeman and Moss. Law enforcement says Freeman then took off with Lebron’s car and fled the scene.
“Gracie Moss Lebron was 40 years of age; she was in a relationship with Freeman. The incident occurred during the course of a domestic violence incident between the two parties.” Said Lauderdale County Sheriff Chief Deputy, Ward Calhoun.
Freeman's arrest came with aid from other law enforcement agencies.
“We had a description that was provided to us, we also gathered information that led us to believe that he was headed north to highway 45 and we contacted the Mississippi Highway Patrol and other agencies in the counties: up highway 45 ultimately around 9:20, The Shannon Police Department and The Lee County Sheriff’s Department spotted the vehicle.” Said Lauderdale County chief deputy, Sheriff Ward Calhoun.
This incident is still under investigation by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department.
“They’re other factors that we are looking at in this particular case, we will potentially file additional or amended charges that we currently have “Said Lauderdale County chief deputy, Sheriff Ward Calhoun.
