Local comedian plans to host national comedy competition in Meridian

Comedian Mo Williams has been on stage nationally and internationally, and is now looking to share his love of comedic acts with Meridian during the event Funny First Friday Comic View Rewind held each month.

“I‘ve been doing comedy for probably 18, 20 years old, the last comic view I did; this is the most memorable one, it was the 205 with Sherell Underwood.” Said comedian Mo Williamz.

His calling to be a comedian came during his childhood.

“The kids were cruel, and they laughed at me, they messed with my shoes and stuff like that, so I learned comedy; I had to come back with what they did to me with comedy, comedy became my shield. It came my way of really combating anything that they put on me.” Said comedian Mo Williamz.

Williamz believes that he will bring national attention from other comedians to Meridian.

“My ultimate goal is to have a once a year comedy competition where comics from all over the country descend on Meridian, Mississippi the Queen City a national competition like the one they do out on the bay area out in LA, and you’re going to have comics come in here from all over the country.”Said comedian Mo Williamz.
