For the fourth consecutive year, the community is coming together at James Chaney Park for the annual Ward 4 Fest this Saturday. The festivities will kick off at 3 p.m. with activities such as kids t-ball, kickball, and basketball with the Meridian Police Department. Ward 4 Councilwoman Kim Houston says the Meridian Fire Department will also be there, showing the kids how the firetrucks work. The community is encouraged to bring lawn chairs and any other activity such as horseshoes to simply kick back, relax, and bring unity.
"We want to build that sense of community and unity while standing strong together because, you know, it's time-out for all the other stuff. It's time to see what we can do as citizens, as community leaders, to push our city forward and let us be the Queen City that we are destined to be-- that we are,” said Houston. Music will be provided by local DJ's.The event is completely free and will be going on until 7 p.m.
