Today, at Anderson Regional Center, New Vision Drug and Alcohol Service hosted a lunch and learn workshop.
Anderson Regional Hospital has launched a medical stabilization service through new vision which offers a medical detox service and helps patients get through addiction withdrawal through medicated treatment.
The workshop brought awareness about substance abuse and the services that are available to help those that may struggle with addiction.
Treatment is available for alcohol, opioids, cocaine and more.
“A lot of what we have seen since we’ve been here is opioid addiction. Typically, that begins with a pain regimen management prescribed due to maybe a surgery or an accident or something and that sort of leads a person to overusing the opioid because the body becomes dependent on it.” Said Christy Green, service coordinator.
