Locals volunteer time at New Beginnings Adult Day Care Services in Meridian

Clients at The New Beginnings Day Care Services enjoyed a fun filled day that will provide life long memories. Several locals, first responders and volunteers designated time for them at their annual fall carnival.

“I’ve seen faces light up today and smiles from individuals that I haven’t seen smile in a week or two weeks because I’m with them every day. Just seeing their faces light up when they get to bowl, and they get that big strike and the loud noises and the fire trucks and the lights,” said Amy Ivy, program director assistant.

Clients at the day care appreciated volunteers for stepping in to spend time with them and help.

“I really had a good time today. The staff was good the volunteers did a good job and I enjoyed everything about it,” said Daniel Nave.

Adults were given a special tour of the Meridian fire truck by MFD firefighters.

“They’re usually in an emergency so it’s nice to get them out when it’s not an emergency so people can actually talk to them and just enjoy. It’s really a lot of fun for us,” said Rachel Foy, MFD fire prevention specialist.

Students at Meridian Community College also volunteered to shower residents with love and play games with them.

“It was kind of fun getting to interact with some of the people that are here. It was truly a blessing to just know to not never take life for granted and live life to the fullest,” said Kiana Moore, mcc student.
