The VFW in Quitman hosted a Veterans Day Ceremony at the Clarke County Courthouse.
The ceremony at eleven am for local veterans to be recognized for their time serving the country
“Today is a day you honor all veterans, war time veterans and peace time veterans also. There’s a lot of veterans that served in war time, but they never go overseas to war, but their job is very beneficial, because the jobs they do, help and support the war that goes on and also if its peace time they do a lot to keep peace for our country. They do a lot to keep things from getting out of hand”, said J.G. Kufel, Post Commander for District 4 VFW.
The ceremony included a twenty-one-gun salute, the lowering of the country and state flag, and the lowering of the United States and Mississippi state flag
“ It makes you feel good and all these veterans that cone our here deserve the recognition for the time they served, they were away from their families and served their country and we deserve to thank them for it”, said Kufel.
