Leadership Lauderdale Sleep In Heavenly Peace Build

In Meridian, a new non-profit organization is teaming up with a group from Leadership Lauderdale to build bunk beds for kids.

The Meridian chapter of the non- profit organization “Sleep In Heavenly Peace”, is the first chapter in the state of Mississippi.

“They build bunk beds, for kiddos, that don’t have beds to sleep in at night, so we are going to work with them and actually build beds for kids and deliver the beds to the kids, so that they will have beds to sleep in at night”,said Tara Milligan, Leadership Lauderdale.

And their goal is set high

“We started out thinking we could just do five, then it became ten, now we’re at fifteen. We’re shooting for twenty, but really across the community every organization, just a blend of organization’s have contributed”, said Rob Robinson, Leadership Lauderdale.

Each bunk bed costs $350 to build and comes with a mattress, pillows, and bedding.

To raise money for the beds the Leadership Lauderdale group is holding a raffle

“We’re looking to build more beds and so, we’re also doing raffle tickets and we’ve got some great raffle items that we’re going to be raffling off as well”, said Tamara Robb, Leadership Lauderdale.

The beds will be built and delivered next Monday on Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Day at Mississippi Power Company at 3118 Highway 45 North, Meridian, MS 39301.
