Positions Filled At Meridian City Council Meeting

In Meridian, today’s city council meeting discussed an upcoming special election and seats in the city government that were once empty are now filled.

The council approved Mayor Percy Bland’s nomination of Eddie Kelley, to serve as the city’s new chief administrative officer, replacing Richie McAlister --who was terminated last week.

Soon after, Ward 4 councilwoman Kim Houston was named the new council president and councilman Weston Lindemann of Ward 5, was named vice president.

A date has also been set for the special election, to fill the council seat representing Ward 2, formerly held by Tyrone Johnson.

The election will be on Tuesday, April 14th and all qualifying candidates must have all necessary documents submitted by March 25th, in order to run.
