In Meridian, a local event has been rescheduled after confirmation of the Coronavirus in Mississippi.
This year’s 3rd annual “Allie Cat Run and Festival” was initially scheduled for March 21, but is now expected to take place on Saturday, May 9.
It is a large event held in Downtown Meridian on city hall’s lawn in honor of Allie Carruth who passed away in 2017 and donated her organs –allowing her to save two lives.
Allie’s mom, Leslie Carruth, shared that they believed the best thing to do, was to reschedule the event.
“When we saw that the Mississippi Department of Health encouraged if you have crowds of 250 or more to reschedule the event, we know we’ve got the many last year. we had probably a thousand on site and the year before, so we’re totally okay, we’re flexible. our sponsors are amazing, our run – Tim Irvine with time 2 run is great. so, everybody that worked with us really well on just pushing it back to May. we’ll have nicer weather and a bigger crowd”, said Leslie Carruth, event coordinator.
The Allie Cat Run and Festival will have a 5k race, live music, bounce houses, and more.
