MS Blood Services Hold Blood Drive for Judge Charles E. Smith

Meridian, MS - The Mississippi Blood Service buses were in Meridian today in an effort to help out a local judge.

Lauderdale County Chancery Court Judge Charles E. Smith is still hospitalized after being shot in the lower abdomen on March 16th while exiting his vehicle outside of the Courthouse.

With Judge Smith facing more surgeries, volunteers waited in line for up to an hour today in order to donate blood to help . Tammy Walters, marketing representative for Mississippi Blood Services, says "Meridian is a very giving community."

If you missed today's blood drive, there are other ways to donate blood to Judge Smith.

"You can go to our website. You can go to any of our mobile app sites, social media, Facebook page and it will direct to a place that you can go to and give in his name."

One donated pint of blood can save up to three lives. The Meridian Police Department is still investigating the shooting of Judge Smith.
