According to the Mississippi State Department of Health, as of today, April 4th, the first Covid-19 related death in Lauderdale County was reported this morning.
Lauderdale County Coroner, Clayton Cobbler, confirmed with Twin States News that the deceased was an elderly man.
Mississippi State Department of Health states the total cases of COVID-19 in Mississippi, as of 6 p.m. April 3, 2020, including all reported cases since March 11, 2020 is 1,455 with 35 deaths.
Lauderdale County currently has 61 reported cases of the coronavirus.
The Mississippi State Department of Health updates their map and statistics each morning with test results from the previous day. Positive test results reported from outside laboratories are also included in their totals. County case numbers and deaths may change as investigation finds new or additional information.
