Carver Middle School took home the win in Meridian’s middle school football championship

Carver Middle School’s Football Team took home the win against Northwest Middle School in the Meridian’s Middle School Football Championship on Thursday.

The Carver Middle School football team is now the 2020 Meridian Middle School City Champions, after playing in the championship game in Ray Stadium on Thursday, October 8. The final score was 6-0, and the game ended in overtime after an interception by Carver, bringing them the championship trophy. Head Coach Terrence Bembry is glad that he was able to lead his team to win the championship game in his first year coaching them.

“It’s a great feeling. I’m still on a natural high. When I first got here, everybody told me just win one game, --just win one game, and the whole time, when I first met those kids, we’d break it down every practice, on city champs. We knew from day one, that we put the work in, we stayed disciplined, and did our jobs, we’d win the championship. We didn’t have a doubt from the start of the season,” said Terrance Bembry.

Coach Bembry also shared that he hopes this championship win will encourage more students to try out for the football team next season.
