FITNESS DEPOT GIVES ADVISE ON KEEPING THOSE NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS, AND WHY IT'S IMPORTANT!

2023 IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER, AND OUR VERY OWN DANNY TODD DIVES DEEPER INTO WHETHER PEOPLE IN MERIDIAN ACTUALLY STICK WITH THOSE NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS.

One of the biggest worldwide resolutions is to get in the gym and start living better and eating healthier. We speak with a local gym at Fitness Depot and they tell us what they see throughout the year and why it's important to stick with that resolution no matter how hard times may get.

Nate Nomichith- fitness depot management team says "We see people come in here around January every year. They have great goals and we help them accomplish some of their goals. And then what you find is right around February or March, sometimes April, that make it that far, you'll find some people that'll kind of drift away."

But Nate Nomichith of the Fitness Depot points out there are plenty of benefits for sticking with it:

Nate Nomichith adds "But what we are finding with those that stick it out for long-term, ten, 11, 12 months for the year they're seeing great results are feeling healthier, their spirit, their emotion, all health is really great and they're enjoying their life a little better."

Nomichith recommends battle buddies because going to the gym with a buddy helps hold you accountable. And he adds, What better way to find that special someone than by starting the year off at the gym where you can find like-minded people with the same goals? Some gym goers shared their secrets to a long-term success story.

Alexis Crawford- gym goer says "I feel like Christmas every year, everyone kind of like gets into a slump and eats a bunch of junk food and just has a good time. Maybe takes a break. Like, for me, I took a big break from the gym during finals."

Alexis Crawford tells Twin States News that when she takes breaks from exercising, it can be harder to get back to where you left off. But she stresses to not give up and find ways to stay motivated. She also agrees it's important to find someone to help you reach your goals.

Alexis Crawford adds "And a lot of my friends and my brother, they come here and I didn't realize how much you needed someone to, like, be there with you, supporting you and holding you accountable. Until I switched to here because I was always going to the gym by myself. And now like if I skip a day because me and my brother do the same workout, he's like, hey, like you're going to like, you don't need to skip that. You need to come on to the gym with me. So I really enjoyed that."

Health experts advise creating a routine helps your body adapt to long-term goals. And no matter what your New Year's resolution is, you should see it through to the commitment to yourself and achieve what you set out for.
