Mask Mandate Scheduled To Take Effect In Meridian On July 24
Today in Meridian, Mayor Percy Bland announced that a city-wide mask mandate will be in effect on Friday, July 24.
The mandate will require anyone over the age of two to wear a mask when in public spaces like hair salons, barbershops, grocery stores, and restaurants. It has been stated there will be instances where masks will not be required, like when exercising outdoors.
“Because of our increased numbers, double digit numbers across the last 2 weeks, we think that its necessary for us to move forward, today we had an uptick of 39 cases, we don’t want to be in a position, where we move backwards, we’ve asked our small business owners, the EMBDC – we’ve asked everyone to help participate with this mask mandate,” said Percy Bland, Mayor of Meridian.
Full details of the executive order will be released this Friday, July 24.
