Meridian Public School District announces Phase 3 of Return Plan
The Meridian Public School District will now enter phase 3 of their Return to School Plan. On August 10th, all students entered virtual classrooms as phase 1 of their Returning, Re-imaging and Revamping plan.
Phase 2 allowed elementary students to return to campus September 8th and now phase 3 welcomes secondary students on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays along with elementary students beginning October 15th. Wednesdays are virtual learning for all students.
“The board approved phase 3 of the plan, but with COVID-19 it’s just one of those things--that’s our plan going into the 15th, but it could change depending on how things change with the virus. Everything we’re doing is making sure our staff and students are as safe as possible," says MPSD Public Relations Director Matthew Davis.
If parents are not comfortable letting their child come back on campus, virtual learning is still available.
“What we’re asking parents to do--obviously, if they have that pre-existing medical condition--they”ll be able to remain virtual and then there’s also other ways for them to remain virtual and that would be of they live with a family member that may be at higher risk of catching the virus, they'll contact our curriculum department."
Wednesdays will be used for deep cleanings for all campuses. The Meridian Public School District also wants to inform parents, start and dismissal times will remain the same for all campuses.
