MISSISSIPPI'S LARGEST MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARY IS OPENING SHOP RIGHT HERE IN MERIDIAN.

MEDICAL MARIJUANA IS BECOMING MORE OF A REALITY IN 2023. OUR DANNY TODD HAS AN UPDATE, AND WHAT WE CAN EXPECT GOING FORWARD.

Medical marijuana is a growing avenue for patients who are fighting pain or other types of diseases. Twin States News speaks with the largest privately owned dispensary in the state of Mississippi. And they tell us the who, what, when, where and how, and why they started the business and what they look forward to in serving the queen City.

CHAD KEA- GREEN MAGNOLIA CO OWNER says "Each step of this medical marijuana market is licensed, everything from the cultivator to the processor who makes and processes gummies and packages flower to the dispensaries who sell it."

OWNER CHAD KEA SAYS THE PROCESS IS STRENUOUS, BUT FOR GOOD REASON, AND HE THINKS THE STATE IS DOING A GREAT JOB WITH REGULATIONS. BUT HE SAID ALL THE HEADACHE IS WORTH IT TO BE ABLE TO SERVE THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI. HE ALSO GIVES US AN UPDATE AS TO WHAT'S TAKING SO LONG IN THE PROCESS.

CHAD KEA says "One of the issues that we're not started in Mississippi yet, and no dispensary as of the moment can sell in the state of Mississippi is because the testing facilities haven't been validated by the state and they're not ready for business."

The owners of Green Magnolia say they have an emotional story attached to the reasoning of why they started this to begin with.

KEA SAYS HIS BUSINESS PARTNER WENT TO HIGH SCHOOL WITH HIM AND EVEN ATTENDED OLE MISS WITH HIM, AND THEY HAD A MUTUAL FRIEND WHO SUFFERED FROM CANCER, AND THEY SAW THE BENEFITS ATTACHED TO THE END-OF-LIFE TREATMENT HE RECEIVED WHILE USING MEDICAL MARIJUANA.

HE ALSO TOLD US WHEN WE COULD POSSIBLY SEE THE PRODUCT READY FOR SALE.

CHAD KEA says "Hopefully sooner than later, metric or the state will turn on the cards so that those who have received their cards can then go into a dispensary and buy."

KEA IS HOPEFUL THAT WE COULD POSSIBLY SEE PRODUCT IN AS EARLY AS NEXT MONTH. HOWEVER, HE SAYS THE PROCESS IS UNCERTAIN AND COULD BE LATER THAN THAT.

Medical marijuana and the process attached to it are uncharted waters for many in the state of Mississippi. However, it does look like 2023 will be the year that this hits the streets and is able to help those who are in need of it.
