New trade school opens in Meridian

Updated: 6 days ago

Dream Chasers Allied Health and Trade School is the newest addition to the Meridian area. Director and Instructor Sherren Smith says classes began last Monday and are doing well on enrollment already.

“With the space we have now, we’re trying to make sure we have plenty of space for social distancing so we’re taking 10 people at a time," said Smith.

Dream Chasers classes vary from phlebotomy, CNA and CPR courses as well as online. Smith says they hope to provide more variety of classes in the future.

“Everyone that comes through here, they will be certified with the state. So we’re not just offering a class," said Smith. "We’re trying to make sure our students are educated, trained and certified.”

Smith says registering can be done by appointment at the school. Students will need identification, a social security card, a high school diploma or GED to register. They’ve also partnered with some nonprofit organizations in the area to help students financially if requirements are met.

“We’re doing things centered toward the students to try to help them as much as possible," said Smith. "We have connected with other community agencies like Multi-County and Care lodge and we will continue to reach out to other agencies to assist students with payments.”

Dream Chasers Allied Health and Trade School is located at 3701 8th Street Suite B in Meridian. For more information, text or call (601) 479-3792.
