Nonprofits team up for clothing drive
Lauderdale CO., Miss. - The Lauderdale County Baptist Association is partnering with Hope Missions of Mississippi in a community clothing drive. This event will go throughout the month of April at both locations.
“People can donate used and gently worn clothes--the clothes, belts, purses, shoes, be linens and that will help resource the ministries at Hope Mission," said LCBA Director of Missions John Maxey,
Some resources will be mentoring programs, mass feedings and young christian achievers. Lead Pastor Byron Artis says the clothing will not only be used here, but overseas as well.
“We’re inviting everyone to this clothing drive to save lives," said Artis. "It’s a double blessing--the clothing ends up doing to third world countries where the people are sometimes in poverty and can’t afford to get the quality of things we’ve been blessed to get here.”
The goal is to load at least 3 trucks with clothes by the end of the month and the bind is already filling up quickly.
“From first thing in the morning to late in the afternoon to late in the evening, people can drop off their items at their convenience," said Maxey.
