Sleep in Heavenly Peace of Meridian to build a goal of 7,000 beds this weekend
Sleep in Heavenly Peace will host their annual national build day also known as ‘Bunks Across America’ Saturday, September 26th from 8AM to noon at Singing Brakeman Park located at 1800 Front Street.
There, chapters across the country will work to build a goal of 7,000 beds for children in need. The community is invited to come volunteer.
“Our goal is to basically build 7,000 bunk beds for children who do not have beds all across the nation,” says Chairwoman of Sleep in Heavenly Peace Laura Hester. “So we’ll have about 15,000 volunteers. We think it’s really important to participate and volunteer with events that we feel are just such a benefit to our community. We do have a waiting list, we know there are needs in our area and certainly we want to try to provide as many beds as we possibly can.”
These beds will be for the children of Lauderdale County. Volunteers will be following all social distancing guidelines while building. For more information on volunteering, visit here.
