Squealer's Hickory Smoked BBQ Gives Meals to Healthcare Workers
Squealer’s Hickory Smoked BBQ is giving back to healthcare workers during the covid-19 pandemic. Owner Teresa Cranmore says she wanted the workers to feel appreciated during this hard time.
“I could just see something in their faces. I could see the stress, the worry, the concern and I’ve got a lot of family members that are in the medical profession also, and realizing the sacrifices they're making, being away from their families.”
The restaurant has served many locations and plans to feed 3,000 healthcare workers by the time they are done.
“We did Anderson’s Hospital yesterday, we’ve done Rush today, speaking with East Mississippi cause we’re going to do them next week and we’re also going to be reaching out to the different nursing homes, laundry facilities to try to reach out to everybody.”
With the help of other companies, Teresa is able to receive the funds she needs in order to make their donations a success.
“It’s basically a pulled pork dinner and we do bring a little bit of chicken. On the pulled pork dinner, they give some pulled pork, baked beans, potato salad, and bread. BBQ sauce comes. It’s got napkins- everything they need to eat.”
The company plans to continue the food donations until the end of next week or whenever they’re over their goal.
