The Meridian Little Theater to show "The Sound of Music" Dec.10-15

The Meridian Little Theater is gearing up to put on its second production of the season, “The Sound of Music”.

The Meridian Little Theater began its 88th season in October with the musical “Newsies”, which was scheduled to open in the spring, but was postponed due to the pandemic. Now, the theater is welcoming guests back as local actors take to the stage for “The Sound of Music”, with opening night on December 10, showing until December 15, and once again seating in the theater will be limited at 50% capacity.

“This year we had 110 people audition for this play and they are coming from all around, they don’t come just from the Meridian city or Lauderdale county. We have some from Alabama, we have some from Newton, we have some from Laurel. So, it brings in many people from all around, because we’re the community theater for everyone,” said Sidney Covington, President of the Meridian Little Theater's Board of Directors.
