Youth Softball Organization to Start Practices in Meridian
Updated: May 11
The North Meridian Youth Softball Organization will start practices this week, according to a post by the organization’s registrar and treasurer on the league’s Facebook page. Practices are set to begin tomorrow, May 11th, at the Northeast Park.
The season was set to begin on May 1st, but was postponed due to the pandemic. The league is still waiting on Parks and Recreation for when they can move forward with scheduling games. Until then, the league has been given proper guidelines on how to proceed with practices.
These guidelines include waivers for parents to sign in case a child becomes sick and the requirement to provide hand sanitizers for all teams.
Only one team is asked to practice at a time on the field, while parents are asked to stay in their vehicle during practices and wear a mask if they exit the vehicle. To remain socially distant, bleachers are off limits for every one.
According to the executive order, activities such as soccer or baseball should have no more than 20 people in one space with a minimum of six feet separation between each group.
Online registration remains open for anyone ages 4 to 16 interested in joining the league, which can be found on the team’s Facebook page. Teams will be chosen this week.
